Brief history
Established in Melbourne in 1981 by Ian Gawler, this acclaimed program has been continually developed in response to new research, experience and current needs. It has helped thousands of people affected by cancer, including their families and friends.
Network of local endorsed groups
A network has been established to make access easier. Group leaders are trained, endorsed and supported by Ian Gawler and The Gawler Foundation to conduct this 12 week Lifestyle Based Cancer
Self-Help Program
Offering hope, choice and peace of mind
Each session focuses upon a specific, self-help theme based upon a chapter of You Can Conquer Cancer. There is plenty of time to practise techniques as well as for discussion and questions.
Additional support comes from meeting, communicating and connecting with like minded people going through similar experiences. Healing choices are explained – hope and peace of mind become real and constant.
Attending with a support person
While this program will directly benefit the person affected
by cancer, we recognize that relatives and friends are often faced with challenges of their own. Therefore the sessions are specifically tailored to assist support people too. We encourage attendance together wherever possible.
