Meditation group
Each Monday night (except 3rd Monday of each month) I facilitate a Mindfulness meditation group at the Yoga Centre, Elizabeth St West.
All are welcome and no previous meditation experience necessary
Time: 7.45 pm til 9 pm.
Cost: $5 per person
You may like to bring a water bottle or cushion if you wish.
Likewise if you have a meditation stool, bring it along.
Chairs and rugs are available.
Mindfulness Meditation involves cultivating the practice of living mindfully, in other words living in the present moment. Whilst it has its roots in Buddhism, mindfulness meditation is an increasingly popular form of meditation worldwide and the practice of mindfulness is growing very rapidly in western culture.
Whilst a regular daily sitting practice is encouraged, mindfulness ideally becomes a state of mind and attitude as we move throughout the day with increased awareness of the now - by breath, movement, sound, taste, sight and touch.
Typically we begin the group with a few moments silence, then discussion or explanation, then a guided relaxation.
The final half hour we listen to a cd then meditate in silence to conclude.
It's an extremely pleasant way to begin the week and we welcome new people.
Please note that if Monday falls on a public holiday we meet the following week. The Yoga committee use the room the 3rd Monday of
each month for their monthly meeting
